About Exact Time EU
Exact Time EU is an independent website for exact time, made by Radoslav Nikolov in Sofia, Bulgaria. It started from a simple wish: to set a watch to the second against a source that can say exactly where its time comes from.
Where the time comes from
Our reference clock is a dedicated server in Frankfurt, Germany. It synchronises continuously with the national time institutes of Germany (PTB), Italy (INRIM), Poland (GUM), the United Kingdom (NPL) and Sweden (Netnod), which keep their countries’ official time with atomic clocks. Your browser then measures its own network delay to that server, the same way the Network Time Protocol does, and the clock page shows how accurate the result is. The details are on How it works.
What you can do here
- Check the exact time and how far off your own device clock is.
- Sync a radio-controlled watch by imitating the DCF77, MSF, WWVB and JJY time signals with your phone or headphones.
- See the time and business hours in cities around the world, and plan meetings across time zones.
- Choose NTP servers for your computers and network, with live status measured every 15 minutes.
- Read about the radio time signal stations of the world.
Principles
- Honest accuracy. Every time display comes with its uncertainty, and the time source is always named.
- Privacy first. Fonts and scripts are served from this site. Nothing from third parties loads unless you agree in the cookie banner. See the privacy policy.
- Independent. The site is not affiliated with any time institute, watch maker or government. The institutes named here provide public services that anyone may use.
Thanks
This site relies on the public time services of PTB, INRIM, GUM, NPL, Netnod and the many universities and organisations listed on the NTP servers page, as well as on open-source software: chrony for clock synchronisation, Caddy as web server, and the Barlow typeface by Jeremy Tribby (SIL Open Font License).
