Christmas around the world
Most countries celebrate Christmas on 25 December, and in much of Europe, including Germany, Poland, Bulgaria and the Nordic countries, the main celebration is on Christmas Eve, 24 December. Many Orthodox churches that follow the Julian calendar, for example in Serbia, Georgia and Russia, celebrate Christmas on 7 January.
This countdown uses our atomic-referenced clock, so it reaches zero at exactly midnight in your time zone. Looking ahead? The New Year countdown shows when the new year arrives in every time zone.
